Restorative Dental Services
Repairing Dental Injury & Decay
Sometimes, despite their best efforts and intentions around preventive care, patients find themselves with dental conditions that need to be addressed. Whether the condition is a result of decay or injury, this is where restorative dental care comes in.
Restorative dental care is a broad term at refers to a range of treatments and procedures designed to repair existing problems.
Restorative dental care includes treatments that can address every part of the tooth, from the inner pulp to the hard outer shell, and from the roots to the crowns. It can address problems of the mouth as a whole too, including all the supporting structures of the teeth, and even the jaw.
Whatever dental issue you're facing, we'll develop a restorative dental treatment plan to help get you back on track and smiling!
Same-Day Restorations
Using CEREC® technology, our dentists can create and place porcelain crowns, inlays and onlays in a single dental appointment to help restore your smile. No impressions, no temporaries - just tooth-coloured, metal-free restorations in one visit.
Dental Crowns
Crowns are dental restorations that completely cover (or cap) a tooth that has sustained significant damage to protect and strengthen it. They can cover a dental implant, prevent a cracked tooth from worsening, or be used to attach a dental bridge. These restorations don't just repair and protect; they also restore the appearance of teeth that have lost significant material, helping improve the overall look of the smile.
Dental Bridges
Bridges literally bridge the gap left by missing teeth. They are attached in either side of the gap to existing teeth or dental implants. These fixed dental restorations are custom-made, making them barely visible to the casual observer. Bridges restore the natural contour of teeth, as well as the bite between upper and lower teeth. They can help patients who have missing natural teeth smile, eat, and speak with renewed confidence.
Dental Fillings
At Sussex Dental Clinic, we use composite (tooth-coloured) fillings to repair a cavity or tooth damage, like a crack. These fillings can withstand moderate pressure from the constant stress of chewing, and can be used on front and back teeth.
Full & Partial Dentures
Dentures are artificial teeth used to replace one missing tooth or several in a row (partial dentures), or a whole jaw of missing teeth (full dentures). They allow patients with missing teeth to maintain their facial structure, and talk and eat properly.
Inlays & Onlays
Inlays and onlays are tooth-coloured porcelain fillings used to repair cavities when the damage is too extensive for a standard dental filling. They are custom-made in a dental laboratory and are then permanently cemented to the tooth as a single piece.
Root Canals
A root canal is a procedure where your dentist removes diseased blood vessels, nerves and tissues from the interior of a tooth. By removing the decay and bacteria, your dentist can help halt the spread of infection and prevent the need for an extraction.
TMJ Disorder Treatment
The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is a hinge that connects your jaw to the temporal bones of your skull. The disorder of this joint can cause a host of issues with your jaw and the muscles in your face, including painful symptoms. Our dentists can test for, diagnose and provide a treatment plan for TMJ Disorder.
Dry-Mouth Treatment
Having dry-mouth can make it uncomfortable to eat and talk. It can also increase your risk of developing dental health issues. Our dentists offer diagnosis and treatment options to help relieve the symptoms of dry-mouth.
