CEREC® Same-Day Dental Restorations
Complete in a Single Appointment
The standard process for placing a dental crown, inlay or onlay often involves multiple visits to the dentist.
During these appointments, the dentist diagnoses the patient's dental condition, prescribes a restoration, dental impressions are taken, and in some cases, a temporary restoration is made for the patient to wear while they wait for their actual restoration to be constructed. Then, the restoration is placed during a final appointment.
Same-day restorations with CEREC essentially reduce the wait time and condense the process into a single appointment.
How CEREC Works
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a highly precise computer milling machine.
It allows us to take digital impressions and fabricates customized dental veneers, inlays, onlays and crowns, right here in our Sussex office – and all in about an hour.
The impressions we can create with our CEREC machine are just as beautiful, durable and natural looking as any that can be made with more traditional processes. We simply curtail the process - and avoid messy, goopy alginate impressions, too.
Veneers
In dentistry, a veneer is quite simply a layer of material that is placed over a tooth. Veneers serve two major purposes: altering the appearance of the tooth by modifying its shape, colour and symmetry, and protecting the tooth's surface from damage.
Dental Crowns
A dental crown, often referred to as a cap, is a type of dental restoration that literally caps (or completely encloses) the remaining natural tooth when it has sustained damage. Crowns lend strength and durability to teeth that are damaged or cracked, and they can also be used to complete or support implants or bridges respectively.
Inlays & Onlays
Inlays and onlays are tooth-coloured porcelain fillings that are used to repair cavities when the damage is too extensive for a standard dental filling and are typically used for molars.
